Fair Game

From End The Cult

Jump to: navigation, search

Fair Game is the former name of a policy that the Church of Scientology uses to intimidate anyone who is seen as a threat in hopes of silencing that threat. In general, those who have participated in protests, those who speak out against the cult, and other well known outspoken criticism are the targets of Fair Game.

Although Fair Game works as a blanket statement to cover what the church does against critics, the church generally relies on the same tactics which have ranged from minor inconveniences to attempts to drive the critic insane. Many of the common tactics that are used are vexatious lawsuits, defamation tactics, and cease and desist letters. The strategy behind these tactics is to make the victim afraid to speak out or take any actions against the church out of fear of retaliation, therefore negating any threats that would challenge the church.

Although extreme tactics have been used against critics, many do not stop in protesting the cult and indeed have actually gained public sympathy. Despite claims by Scientology spokespeople, Fair Game continues to be used to this present day.

Scientology Definition
