Tom Cruise was born as Thomas Cruise Mapother IV on July 3, 1962.

You may have heard about his involvement in the Church of Scientology. Mimi Rogers, his first wife, is believed to have been his introduction to Scientology. He claims that Study Tech has helped him overcome dyslexia[1]

David Miscavige awarded Cruise Scientology's Freedom Medal of Valor in 2004 for his work in publicizing Scientology and acting as a spokesperson and lobbyist in the international community. Of note was that in 2005 the Paris city council branded him a militant for Scientology and barred further dealings with him.[2]

The Beginning of the End

January 15, 2008, a video was leaked onto the Internet and posted on YouTube. Produced by the Church of Scientology, it featured an interview with Tom Cruise that was aired at his Freedom Medal of Valor ceremony in 2004. With the theme music from Mission: Impossible playing in the background, Cruise discusses what it means to him to be a Scientologist.

It was this video which prompted Anonymous into action.

YouTube subsequently removed the video following litigation by the Church of Scientology, but it was later hosted on Gawker.com and other websites, many which have refused to remove the video.
